Goggle and Lens Guide

Lens Guide

Q: Can you see clearly through the lens?

A: Absolutely! At Skoggl, we blend performance and style. Even with designs on the lens, they’re carefully crafted to never obstruct your vision, so you never miss a moment of your adventure. In certain light, subtle outlines may appear, but our lenses are designed to deliver top performance without compromising your view.

Q: What lens should I pick?

A: Follow the guide below to choose the right lens for your conditions.

Lens Type VLT Ideal Conditions
Sunny Skies 17% Best for bright and sunny conditions.
All Weather 31% Best for mixed conditions.

Q: What is VLT?

A: VLT, or Visible Light Transmission, measures the amount of visible light that can pass through a lens and be detected by the eye. Represented as a percentage, the lower the number, the darker the lens tint, making it better suited for bright sunlight.

Q: Do your goggles have UV protection?

A: Yes! All goggles provide 100% UV400 protection, blocking 100% of harmful UVA and UVB rays. This reduces eye fatigue and keeps your vision sharp at high altitudes or in bright alpine conditions.

Q: What lens shape do you use?

A:  All our Ski & Snowboard goggles use spherical lenses, they mimic the eye’s natural curve, offering wide peripheral vision and reduced glare.

Q: Are Skoggl goggles anti-fog?

A: Yes! Our dual-lens anti-fog system, combined with advanced ventilation, keeps condensation at bay. Anna Mimi + Ben (Founders + siblings) have personally tested the lenses in conditions down to -40°C. From the first lift to the last run, enjoy crystal-clear vision in cold mountain conditions.

Q: Can I swap lenses easily?

A: Definitely. Our magnetic lens system allows you to swap lenses in seconds to match changing light or switch up your style. Each lens is EN ISO 18527-1 certified and mechanically tested to resist high-velocity impacts.

Q: Are the Skoggl goggles scratch resistant?

A: Yep! We have built them to last multiple seasons. Skoggl magnetic lenses feature a protective surface treatment designed to resist the scuffs and scratches of daily mountain life. Combined with our EN ISO 18527-1 certified impact resistance, you get a goggle that is built to stay clear and keep you safe, run after run.

Saftey & Certifications

Q: Are Skoggl goggles really tested for safety?

A: Yes! Our frames and magnetic lenses are independently and mechanically tested to meet EN ISO 18527-1 standards, providing elite-level defense against impacts and mountain debris.

Q: Are your goggles certified?

A: Yes, fully. Skoggl goggles are officially certified and carry both the UKCA (UK Conformity Assessed) and CE (Conformité Européenne) marks. This means our goggles meet the rigorous health, safety, and environmental protection standards required for sale in the UK and European Union. Every pair is independently tested to ensure they provide the high-level eye protection you need on the mountain.

Q: Are Skoggl TPU frames durable and safe?

A: Yes. Our TPU frames are independently certified to EN ISO 18527-1, tested for high-velocity impacts, and made from 100% non-toxic, lead-free materials. They’re built to handle the toughest mountain conditions.

Q: Are Skoggl goggles skin safe?

A: Definitely. We use certified skin-safe materials, free from harmful chemicals, heavy metals, and toxic substances. All goggles meet strict European REACH safety standards.

Build & Materials

Q: Where are Skoggl goggles made?

A: Every pair is designed and hand-assembled in the UK from Anna Mimi + Bens (founders and siblings) parents’ barn! We combine craftsmanship, safety, and premium materials for goggles that perform and last.

Q: What are your frames made from?

A: Our frames are crafted from Premium Grade TPU (Thermoplastic Polyurethane). This material is chosen for its incredible "shape memory" and flexibility; even in extreme temperatures as low as -40°C, the frame remains supple to contour perfectly to your face. Most importantly, our TPU is 100% non-toxic, lead-free, and REACH certified, ensuring high-performance protection that is safe for both you and the environment.

Q: What are your lenses made from?

A: Skoggl lenses feature a dual-layer for maximum clarity and safety. The outer lens is made from High-Impact Grade Polycarbonate and meets EN ISO 18527-1 safety standards. The inner lens is treated with a permanent cellulose-based anti-fog coating. This "double-glazing" effect creates a thermal barrier that prevents condensation, while the spherical shape ensures zero optical distortion across your entire field of vision.

Q: What are your straps made from?

A: Our interchangeable straps are woven from a high-density blend of Nylon and Elastic Polyester, designed to maintain their "snap" season after season without over-stretching. Each strap features a triple-wave non-slip silicone backing to ensure a rock-solid grip on your helmet. The attachment clips are made from reinforced composite to ensure your goggles stay exactly where you put them, even during high-velocity runs.

Q: What kind of cushioning do the goggles have?

A: Each frame has advanced triple-layer PU foam for comfort, fit, and ventilation. The foam is certified free from harmful chemicals and keeps your face comfy even on long days in the cold.

Q: Will my goggles fit my helmet?

A: Skoggl goggles are helmet-compatible and designed to work seamlessly with the majority of ski and snowboard helmet brands for comfort and safety.

 Goggle & Lens Care

Q: How do I clean my goggles?

A: Use a microfiber cloth to gently wipe down your Skoggl magnetic lens and frame. Avoid paper towels, tissues, or other abrasive materials that could scratch the surface.

TOP TIP: Never to wipe the inside of the lens when it is wet/moist. Wiping the inner lens while damp can smear or scratch the anti-fog coating. It's better to let them air dry or "dab" very gently.

Q: Where should I store my goggles?

A: Store your goggles in a Skoggl protective case when not in use to prevent scratches and damage. Store in a cool, dry place, away from sunlight or heat sources.

TOP TIP: Don't leave damp goggles in a closed case or a hot car overnight. Air drying at room temperature is the best way to preserve the foam and the anti-fog.

Goggle & Lens Swaps

Q: How do I change the magnetic lens?

A: Follow these steps:

    1. Hold your Skoggl goggles facing you and locate the bottom corner of the lens (left or right side).
    2. Gently pull the lens outward; the magnets will release.
    3. Line up the new magnetic lens with the corners of the frame, making sure it's the right way around.
    4. Place the magnetic lens over the frame. When you hear a click, it means the lens is securely locked into place.
    5. Always double-check that the lens is secure before skiing or snowboarding.
